Sonia is a woman of extraordinary talent, brains and beauty. She
has sang in styles from classical and sacred music to cover songs
of Celine Dion and more. She says Celine is one of her most
serious influences, along with some others, but goes after her own
style which is nothing less than fabulous. Singing and dancing from
a very young age, Sonia comes from a very gifted family. She
sights her uncle Nuno Bettencourt, as one of her biggest musical
influences as well. She's performed in 7 languages, is very fluent in
3 of these and performs regularly in 5. Along with dance, skills in
plastics art and painting, it seems singing is the pinnacle of her
passions artistically. She's performed since childhood from choirs
to clubs and festival shows, where if there was ever a singing
contest, she garnered many a 1st place prize. She has more than
beauty in appearance. It is the same with her gorgeous soprano
voice and a fabulous gift for using it to give you chills up your spine.
Sonia hails from Portugal, was born in Dili, East Timor, but returned
to the mainland. Her father was in the military over there and her
mother of Massachusetts is an American citizen.
Sonia was found on the Internet by the composer of "John Doe"
Jeff Ridler. He quickly shared his find with his brother Steve, along
with their publisher/label president Ron Dennis Wheeler of R & R
ORLANDO. Jeff asked her if she wanted to record "John Doe",
which she said she found to be profoundly moving and powerful.
Along with her vocal through out the song and the poignant story
line, get ready for the hair raising musical wow! Tango, Sonia and
Steve Ridler do vocally in the latter part of the song! It was recorded
both in The USA and Portugal. R & R is putting it out along with The
Ridlers and others...USA nationwide...on a compilation CD
